The Making of a Trailblazer

Senator Aniekan Etim Bassey, former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, former Chairman of South-South Speakers Forum and Vice Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, is the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District.

When he ventured into politics sometime in 2014 as an independent businessman, little did Senator Aniekan Etim Bassey, a native of Ekim Enen Village in Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, know that fate would thus take him this far. Within five years, he has become the 12th Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Chairman of the South-South Speakers’ Forum and Vice Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria. My Mission and Vision

Government and non-governmental organization partnership

Senator Aniekan Bassey has been working with the government and non-governmental organizations in meeting the needs of his people as a member representing the Uruan State Constituency and others as The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Constituency briefing

Senator Aniekan Bassey is known to be one of the political representatives at the state level with continuous constituency empowerment and briefings. The Uruan people have their testimonies and other citizens of the state have their stories.

Human capacity development programmes

Human capacity development is one of the programmes of Senator Aniekan Bassey. He believes that the greatest investment and help is investing in human development. He has invested through school fees, training fees, buying of tools and types of equipment as reported, giving of business capital, and many other unrecorded financial and material assistance.

Youths enlightenment/empowerment programmes

Youths are the hope of the future and Senator Aniekan Bassey believes that investing in the youth through enlightenment and empowerment programmes is state-building.

Women enlightenment/empowerment programmes

Women empowerment has been part of the programmes of the Senator Aniekan Bassey from the beginning of his political career. He has brought joy to the lives of many women within his constituency and others across the state.
